How to Beat Cubewalker Lithus in Crimson Desert
Complete strategy guide for the Cubewalker Lithus boss fight in Crimson Desert — an optional mechanical boss at the Southern Quarry, defeated by targeting its cube head with Axiom Force.
Cubewalker Lithus is an optional mechanical boss found at the Southern Quarry in Hernand, encountered during the Embers of Return questline (A Rumor in the Southern Quarry). This construct features a distinctive cube-shaped head that serves as its primary weak point and an environmental projectile mechanic that turns its own attacks against it.
Location
Cubewalker Lithus is located at the Southern Quarry in the south side of Hernand, accessed through the A Rumor in the Southern Quarry questline, which is part of the Greymane Embers of Return questline.
Boss Mechanics
Cube Head Weak Point
Cubewalker Lithus's large mechanical cube head is the designated weak point for this encounter. Attacks targeting the cube head deal significantly increased damage compared to striking other parts of the boss. Axiom Force is the most effective skill for targeting and damaging the cube head due to its focused impact.
Rock Projectile Attack
Cubewalker Lithus hurls large rock projectiles at Kliff throughout the fight. These are not simply damage-dealing attacks — they are the key to creating extended damage windows.
Use Nature's Retribution to deflect the incoming rock projectiles back at the boss. A successful deflection staggers Cubewalker Lithus, creating a generous window to attack the cube head freely.
The stagger from a deflected rock projectile lasts several seconds. After a successful Nature's Retribution deflection, immediately close distance and use Axiom Force on the cube head for maximum damage during the stagger window.
Stomp and Ground Attacks
At close range, Cubewalker Lithus uses heavy stomp attacks that deal significant damage and can knock Kliff back. These attacks are slower and more telegraphed than the projectile attack.
Strategy
Phase 1 — Establish the Deflection Rhythm
The fight has a consistent rhythm: Cubewalker Lithus throws a rock, you deflect it, you attack the cube head during stagger, you retreat before the stomp punish.
- Stay at mid-range — close enough to see projectile telegraphs, far enough to have deflection reaction time
- Watch for the throwing animation — Cubewalker Lithus raises one arm before throwing
- Time Nature's Retribution — activate it just before the rock reaches you to deflect it back
Phase 2 — Cube Head Punishment
After each successful deflection and stagger:
- Close distance immediately
- Use Axiom Force on the cube head
- Follow up with your strongest melee combo
- Retreat before the stagger ends and the boss resumes attacks
Do not overstay your damage window. When Cubewalker Lithus recovers from stagger, it often immediately follows with a stomp or sweep attack. Two or three hits on the cube head per window is safer than attempting to maximize damage and eating the recovery attack.
Direct Cube Head Attacks
Outside of stagger windows, you can still deal damage by directly targeting the cube head with Axiom Force when Cubewalker Lithus is stationary or between its attack animations. However, the deflect-stagger loop provides significantly better DPS than purely trading blows.
Recommended Gear
Bekker Sword
Sword — ATK TBD
Standard reliable melee option for the punishment windows.
Greymane Spear
Spear — ATK TBD
Extended reach helps tag the cube head from safer distances.
Abyss Halberd
Halberd — ATK TBD
Good damage for punishing stagger windows with sweep attacks.
Loot Drops
| Item | Drop Rate | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Secret of the Abandoned Mine | 100% | Key item for completing the A Rumor in the Southern Quarry questline. |
| Rune-Engraved Rock | 100% | A rare crafting material with runes of unknown origin, recovered from the quarry excavation. |
| Abyss Artifact | 100% | Used to upgrade skills and unlock new abilities via the Abyss system. |
Summary
- Stay at mid-range to react to projectile throws
- Use Nature's Retribution to deflect rock projectiles back at the boss
- Exploit the stagger window with Axiom Force on the cube head
- Retreat before the stagger ends to avoid stomp counter-attacks
- Repeat the deflect-stagger-attack loop to systematically deplete the boss's health
Cubewalker Lithus rewards players who commit to the deflection mechanic. Ignoring Nature's Retribution and fighting directly is possible but significantly slower and riskier.
