Crimson Desert Cross-Save Guide: PS5, Xbox, Steam & Epic Setup

Crimson Desert now supports cross-save on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic. Learn how to link a Pearl Abyss ID, upload a save, switch platforms, and avoid deleting cloud progress.

Yes. Crimson Desert now supports cross-save between PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

Pearl Abyss added the feature in Patch 1.14.00 on July 16, 2026. You can link supported platform accounts to one Pearl Abyss ID, upload one save to a shared cloud slot, and continue that save on another supported platform.

There are several important limits: synchronization is manual, Mac is not supported yet, and you still need to buy the game separately on every platform where you want to play.

Quick answer

Crimson Desert cross-save supports:

  • PlayStation
  • Xbox
  • Steam
  • Epic Games Store

It does not currently support:

  • Steam on Mac
  • Mac App Store

Pearl Abyss says Mac support will be added in a future update.

To use cross-save, you need a Pearl Abyss ID and at least one linked platform account. You can link one account from each supported platform, for a maximum of four platform accounts.

How to enable cross-save

Start on the platform that currently holds the save you want to keep.

  1. Open Crimson Desert and go to the in-game Save menu.
  2. Select the Cross-Save button in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Scan the displayed QR code or open the provided Cross-Save link.
  4. Sign in with the platform account you are currently using.
  5. Create a Pearl Abyss ID, or sign in to an existing Pearl Abyss ID.
  6. Complete the platform-account linking process.
  7. Return to the game and select Refresh in the Cross-Save settings.
  8. Select the Cross-Save slot at the bottom-right of the Save menu.
  9. Save your current progress to that slot.

After linking another supported platform account to the same Pearl Abyss ID, open Crimson Desert on that platform and load the shared Cross-Save slot.

Cross-save is manual, not automatic

Crimson Desert does not continuously sync your latest progress in the background.

Before switching platforms, you must return to the Save menu and update the Cross-Save slot manually. If you close the game without doing that, the cloud slot will still contain the older version of your save.

A safe platform-switching routine is:

  1. Make a normal local save.
  2. Save the same progress to the Cross-Save slot.
  3. Exit the game.
  4. Confirm the other platform is updated to the latest game version.
  5. Load the Cross-Save slot on the other platform.

Do not assume an autosave or local quick save has also updated the shared slot.

There is only one shared Cross-Save slot

Each Pearl Abyss ID receives one Cross-Save slot. All linked platforms use that same slot.

There is not a separate cloud slot for PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic. Saving new progress into the Cross-Save slot replaces the previous cloud version, so check the character, playtime, and location carefully before overwriting it.

Keep local saves on every platform as a fallback, especially while you are first setting up the feature.

How many platform accounts can you link?

You can link one account from each supported platform:

  • one PlayStation Network account
  • one Xbox account
  • one Steam account
  • one Epic Games account

That gives you a maximum of four linked platform accounts on one Pearl Abyss ID.

A platform account cannot be linked to two Pearl Abyss IDs at the same time. If Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, or Epic is already connected elsewhere, you must sign in to the Pearl Abyss ID currently holding that connection and unlink it first.

Do you need to buy the game again?

Yes. Cross-save transfers your save data, not your game license.

For example, moving from PS5 to Steam requires:

  • a PlayStation copy of Crimson Desert
  • a Steam copy of Crimson Desert
  • both accounts linked to the same Pearl Abyss ID

The same rule applies when moving between Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

Do inventory and paid items transfer?

Your character progress and inventory travel with the Cross-Save file.

Platform-specific paid items work differently. If an entitlement was purchased only on one platform, it will appear disabled when the save is loaded on a platform where that entitlement is not owned. The save can still be loaded and played, but the disabled item must be purchased on the new platform before it can be used there.

Cross-save therefore does not turn one platform's Deluxe Edition or paid entitlement into a purchase on every other storefront.

Can you move a PS5 save to PC?

Yes. Link the PlayStation account and either Steam or Epic Games to the same Pearl Abyss ID.

Upload the current PS5 progress to the Cross-Save slot before leaving the console, then load that slot on PC. The reverse direction works as well, provided both versions of the game are updated and the PC save was manually written to the Cross-Save slot.

Can you move an Xbox save to PlayStation or Steam?

Yes. Xbox is one of the four supported Cross-Save platforms.

The account-linking and manual-save rules are the same: connect both platform accounts to one Pearl Abyss ID, upload the save from the source platform, and load it on the destination platform.

Does Cross-Save support Mac?

Not yet.

The official Cross-Save FAQ says Mac will be added in a future update. That means neither Steam on Mac nor the Mac App Store should be treated as supported until Pearl Abyss updates the Cross-Save page or publishes another patch notice.

You can still play the Mac versions normally, but do not buy a second Mac copy solely for Cross-Save based on the current platform list.

Keep every platform on the same game version

An older save can be loaded after the game updates. The reverse is not always possible.

If you create or update a Cross-Save file on a newer game version, a platform that has not received that version yet cannot load it. This matters when a patch reaches Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Epic, or Mac App Store at different times.

Before moving your progress, update both the source and destination platforms to the latest available build.

Be careful when unlinking accounts

You can unlink individual platform accounts from the Cross-Save page. If at least one other platform account remains linked, the shared cloud save remains available.

However, unlinking the final remaining platform account permanently deletes the Cross-Save data. Deleting the Pearl Abyss ID also permanently deletes the shared cloud slot.

Before unlinking the last account or deleting the Pearl Abyss ID:

  1. Load the Cross-Save file on a supported platform.
  2. Save the progress to a normal local slot.
  3. Verify that the local save loads correctly.
  4. Only then make the account change.

Pearl Abyss says deleted Cross-Save data cannot be restored.

Cross-save data not appearing

If the shared save does not appear, check these items in order:

  1. Confirm the correct platform account is linked to the intended Pearl Abyss ID.
  2. Return to the source platform and verify that the progress was saved specifically to the Cross-Save slot.
  3. Update the game on the destination platform.
  4. Restart the destination version of Crimson Desert.
  5. Refresh the Cross-Save menu and try loading again.

If linking itself fails, check whether that platform account is already connected to a different Pearl Abyss ID.

Does Cross-Save replace PlayStation Plus cloud storage?

Cross-Save gives PS5 players another way to keep one Crimson Desert save in the cloud without relying on the PlayStation Plus cloud-save feature.

It is not a full replacement for general console backups: Crimson Desert provides only one manually updated shared slot, while platform-level cloud storage may handle additional local saves differently. Keep a local backup and understand which slot you are updating before relying on it as your only copy.

What Cross-Save does not confirm

The official Cross-Save FAQ does not currently confirm that:

  • trophies or achievements automatically unlock retroactively on every platform
  • platform-exclusive paid entitlements become usable everywhere
  • mods installed on PC transfer to or work on consoles
  • synchronization happens automatically
  • Mac support is already active

Treat those as separate questions rather than assuming they are included with save transfer.
