Crimson Desert Abyss Puzzles Guide — All Puzzle Types and Solutions
Solve every type of Abyss puzzle in Crimson Desert with this guide covering Axiom Force cubes, light puzzles, Force Palm challenges, and all Abyss Cresset rewards.
Abyss puzzles in Crimson Desert gate access to Abyss Artifacts, fast travel points, and some of the best gear in the game. They appear inside Abyss dungeons, at Ancient Ruins, and at Abyss Cressets scattered across every region. This guide covers every puzzle type and how to solve them.
Understanding Abyss Locations
Three types of Abyss locations contain puzzles:
Abyss Nexuses
Fast travel points unlocked by standing on them for a few seconds. These are hidden by default — use Blinding Flash (hold RB+LB on Xbox, R1+R2 on PlayStation, CTRL+Left Click on keyboard) to detect them. A trail of light appears pointing toward the nearest Abyss point.
Abyss Cressets
Dungeon entrances locked behind puzzles. Completing the puzzle activates the Cresset as a fast travel point AND rewards Abyss Artifacts. Usually found near Ancient Ruins.
Ancient Ruins
Full dungeon experiences with multiple puzzle rooms, enemies, and boss encounters. The most complex puzzles are found here.
Finding Hidden Abyss Locations
Mysterious Energies markers on the map indicate the general area of an undiscovered Abyss Nexus or Cresset. When you reach the area, use Blinding Flash to pinpoint the exact location. Moving to higher ground improves the visibility of the light trail.
Use Blinding Flash constantly while exploring, especially near Mysterious Energy markers. The ability costs nothing and reveals nearby Abyss locations that are completely invisible otherwise. Getting to higher ground makes the detection trail clearer.
Puzzle Type 1: Axiom Force Cubes
The most common puzzle type. You find floating blue cubes called Power Cores and must move them to specific pedestals or lanterns using the Axiom Force ability.
How to Solve
- Locate all Power Cores in the area — they float and glow blue
- Use Axiom Force to grab a Power Core
- Carry it to the matching pedestal or lantern
- Release the Core onto the pedestal
- Repeat for all Cores in the puzzle
Some Axiom Force puzzles require serious parkour — you need to jump across platforms while carrying Power Cores, adding a traversal challenge on top of the puzzle logic.
Puzzle Type 2: Light and Mirror Puzzles
You find a light source and must redirect the beam to hit a target receptor, bouncing it off mirrors or reflective surfaces.
How to Solve
- Stand in beams of light breaking through cave ceilings or walls
- Hold RB+LB (Blinding Flash) then press LB to shine light from your sword
- Direct the sword's reflected light toward receptors or other mirrors
- Chain reflections through multiple mirrors to reach the final target
Some puzzles require finding hidden mirrors by breaking walls or activating mechanisms first.
Puzzle Type 3: Force Palm Challenges
These puzzles present a holographic demonstration of a technique, then require you to replicate it.
How to Solve
- Use L1/LB to observe the holographic demonstration
- The demo shows cells or objects that need to be moved into specific positions
- Use Force Palm to punch cells into the correct arrangement
- Match the demonstrated pattern exactly
Puzzle Type 4: Battery and Grate Puzzles
Combine Force Palm interactions with battery placement logic.
How to Solve
- Use Force Palm on grates to open or activate them
- Find battery items in the surrounding area
- Place batteries in the correct slots to power mechanisms
- The powered mechanisms unlock the next section
Puzzle Type 5: Water Drain Puzzles
Manipulate wooden mechanisms to drain water from flooded areas, revealing hidden paths or items underneath.
How to Solve
- Find the wooden drainage mechanisms — usually levers or rotating wheels
- Interact with them in the correct sequence
- Water drains to reveal the path forward or a treasure below
Puzzle Type 6: Symbol and Mural Puzzles
Decipher clues from murals, carvings, or environmental details to solve symbol-matching devices.
How to Solve
- Check the surrounding area for murals, carvings, or notes with clue symbols
- Sometimes clues are in adjacent rooms — explore thoroughly before attempting the puzzle
- Match symbols on the puzzle device to the clue pattern
Some puzzles require abilities you may not have unlocked yet. If a puzzle seems impossible, it may require Force Palm, Axiom Force, or a specific Keen Senses ability. Come back after unlocking the required skill rather than wasting time trying to brute-force it.
