How to Fast Travel in Crimson Desert — Nexus Guide

Learn how to unlock and use the Abyss Nexus fast travel system in Crimson Desert, including all nexus locations and tips for efficient travel.

Fast travel in Crimson Desert uses the Abyss Nexus system — a network of ancient teleportation points scattered throughout the world. Understanding how to unlock and use this system early saves enormous amounts of travel time.

How the Abyss Nexus Works

Abyss Nexus points are glowing stone obelisks found throughout every region. When you approach one for the first time, interact with it to activate it. Once activated, you can teleport between any two activated Nexus points from the map screen.

TIP

Activating an Abyss Nexus point also fully restores your health, stamina, and potion charges. Use them as rest stops during exploration.

How to Unlock Fast Travel

Fast travel is not available from the start. You unlock the Abyss Nexus system by completing the early main quest "Echoes of the Abyss" in the Hernand region. This quest introduces you to the Abyss mechanic and activates your first Nexus point automatically.

After unlocking the system, every Nexus point you discover becomes part of your permanent fast travel network.

Nexus Point Locations

Hernand Region (4 Points)

  • Hernand Castle — Central hub, activated during the tutorial quest
  • Roothold Stronghold — Northeast area near the mountain paths
  • Karin Quarry — Western mining area
  • Fort Perwin — Far west border crossing

Mid-Game Regions (6+ Points)

Each subsequent region contains four to six Nexus points. They are typically located near:

  • Major settlements and towns
  • Boss arena entrances
  • Region border crossings
  • Hidden underground areas

Endgame / Delesyia (4+ Points)

The Delesyia region has Nexus points integrated into its mechanical infrastructure. These function identically but have a different visual design.

Fast Travel Restrictions

There are several important limitations to keep in mind:

WARNING

You cannot fast travel while in combat, while carrying certain quest items, or while inside instanced dungeons. Always finish your current encounter before attempting to teleport.

  • No combat teleporting — You must be out of combat for at least 5 seconds
  • Quest item locks — Some story quests temporarily disable fast travel
  • Dungeon restriction — Cannot teleport out of instanced areas
  • Mount restriction — You must dismount before using a Nexus point
  • No cost — Fast travel is completely free with no cooldown

Tips for Efficient Travel

  1. Prioritize Nexus activation — When entering a new region, find and activate all Nexus points before doing anything else
  2. Check the map regularly — Undiscovered Nexus points appear as faint markers on your map if you are within a certain range
  3. Use Nexus as save points — Activating a Nexus creates an autosave, making them useful checkpoints before boss fights
  4. Plan your routes — When completing multiple quests, teleport to the Nexus closest to your objective rather than running across the entire region
  5. Pair with mounts — Teleport to the nearest Nexus, then ride your mount the remaining distance for maximum efficiency

Unlocking All Nexus Points

Activating every Nexus point in the game unlocks the Abyssal Steed mount — one of the fastest ground mounts available. This is a significant long-term reward for thorough exploration.

The Abyss Nexus system is one of the most important quality-of-life features in Crimson Desert. Make activating new Nexus points a priority whenever you enter unexplored territory.
