How to Beat Golden Star in Crimson Desert

Complete strategy guide for the Golden Star boss fight in Crimson Desert — the Delesyia mechanical dragon fought entirely from Wyvern-back in aerial combat.

Golden Star is unlike any other boss in Crimson Desert. This massive mechanical dragon in the Delesyia region is fought entirely from the back of your Wyvern mount in a thrilling aerial combat sequence. Standard ground tactics do not apply here.

Location

Golden Star is encountered in the Delesyia region during the main story progression. The fight takes place in the open sky above the Delesyian machine city. You must have the Crimson Wyvern mount unlocked before this encounter.

Prerequisites

This fight requires aerial combat proficiency. Before attempting Golden Star, make sure you have:

  • Crimson Wyvern mount fully unlocked and upgraded
  • Wyvern stamina upgraded to at least level 3
  • A strong bow for aerial ranged attacks
  • Familiarity with Wyvern flight controls

Grey Wolf Bow

Bow — ATK 12

Minimum viable option. Accurate and reliable for aerial shots.

Stormcaller Longbow

Bow — ATK 18

Ideal choice. Found in Delesyia. Longer range and higher damage.

Delesyian Crossbow

Crossbow — ATK 20

Highest aerial damage but slower fire rate. For experienced players.

Boss Mechanics

Aerial Combat Basics

While mounted on the Wyvern, you can:

  • Steer the Wyvern toward or away from the boss
  • Fire ranged weapons while flying
  • Dodge roll in the air to avoid incoming attacks (uses Wyvern stamina)
  • Dive attack for high burst damage at close range

Phase 1 — Pursuit (100%–70% HP)

Golden Star flies in predictable patterns while firing mechanical projectiles. Match its speed and fire arrows at its exposed engine vents — glowing orange weak points on its wings and back.

  • Machine Gun Volley — Rapid projectiles fired backward. Swerve left and right to weave through them.
  • Tail Cannon — A charged shot from its tail. A red targeting laser telegraphs this attack — dodge the moment the laser turns bright.
TIP

The engine vents on Golden Star's wings glow brighter when they are about to overheat. Hitting an overheating vent deals triple damage and causes a brief stagger.

Phase 2 — Confrontation (70%–35% HP)

Golden Star turns to face you directly. The fight becomes a head-on duel.

  • Flame Breath — A wide cone of mechanical fire. Dive below the cone or climb above it.
  • Wing Missiles — Homing projectiles launched from both wings. Perform a barrel roll dodge to shake them.
  • EMP Pulse — Disables your Wyvern controls briefly. Maintain distance when you see the blue charge buildup.

Target the chest core — a large glowing weak point exposed when Golden Star opens its jaws for Flame Breath.

Phase 3 — Final Stand (35%–0% HP)

Golden Star becomes erratic, combining all previous attacks and adding:

  • Detonation Spheres — Drops explosive orbs that float in the air. Navigate around them while maintaining fire.
  • Ram Attack — Charges directly at you at high speed. Dodge at the last second for a slow-motion counterattack window.
WARNING

If your Wyvern stamina depletes completely during the fight, you will lose altitude rapidly and take collision damage. Always keep stamina above 20%.

Strategy Summary

  1. Upgrade Wyvern stamina before attempting this fight
  2. Target glowing engine vents and the chest core weak point
  3. Manage Wyvern stamina carefully — never let it fully deplete
  4. Use dive attacks during stagger windows for burst damage
  5. Keep distance during EMP Pulse charges
  6. In Phase 3, navigate around Detonation Spheres while maintaining pressure
