How to Get the Iron Eagle and Hyacinth Macaw Pets in Crimson Desert

Patch 1.05.00 adds two new legendary pets, the Iron Eagle and the Hyacinth Macaw. Here is what Pearl Abyss has officially confirmed about how to get them.

Patch 1.05.00 adds two new legendary pets to Crimson Desert: the Iron Eagle and the Hyacinth Macaw. Both are bird pets, both are positioned alongside the bird pet system that shipped in 1.04.00, and only one of them has any official spawn condition published in the patch note.

This update supersedes the earlier dev-update style pet article preview written before the system went live.

Quick answer

Pearl Abyss confirms the following in patch 1.05.00:

  • two new legendary pets are added: the Iron Eagle and the Hyacinth Macaw
  • the Iron Eagle "appears upon meeting certain conditions"
  • the Hyacinth Macaw is added to the same set; Pearl Abyss does not publish specific spawn conditions for it in the patch note
  • both fit into the existing bird-pet flow added in 1.04.00

What Pearl Abyss says about the Iron Eagle

For the Iron Eagle, Pearl Abyss writes that it "appears upon meeting certain conditions." That is the entire publicly documented unlock language.

That phrasing means:

  • the bird is not free-roaming in Pywel until those conditions are met
  • the conditions are not published in the patch note

If you have already met the conditions, the patch language is consistent with the bird being available to find and tame normally with the bird-pet system. If you have not, you will not encounter it.

What Pearl Abyss says about the Hyacinth Macaw

Pearl Abyss adds the Hyacinth Macaw in the same patch, but the patch note does not publish a specific spawn-condition phrase for it. Until Pearl Abyss or community testing confirms a clear path, treat the macaw as a pet whose acquisition flow is not yet officially documented.

We will update this article once Pearl Abyss publishes more detail.

How the bird-pet system works (recap from 1.04.00)

Patch 1.04.00 added the broader bird-pet system. From the 1.04.00 patch note, Pearl Abyss confirmed:

  • birds are pets that can be encountered throughout Pywel
  • the Sotdae of Bond lets players gain Trust with birds
  • you feed birds by placing food on the Sotdae of Bond
  • the Sotdae of Bond itself is obtained through a quest
  • pets now have an accessory slot
  • the Sigil of Bonding lets a cat stay on your shoulder longer

If you have not already obtained the Sotdae of Bond from its quest, that is the most important prerequisite for taming new birds added in 1.05.00. Without the Sotdae, the trust-building loop for birds is not available to you.

A practical checklist for hunting the new birds

Based on the live patch notes and existing systems, the most reasonable preparation is:

  1. Make sure you have the Sotdae of Bond from its quest (added in 1.04.00).
  2. Stock food appropriate for birds; the Sotdae of Bond is the placement point for that food.
  3. Travel widely. Pearl Abyss says birds appear "throughout Pywel" in the 1.04.00 patch note, so the new legendary pets fit into that wider geography rather than a single spawn point.
  4. For the Iron Eagle specifically, expect that the spawn requires a not-yet-documented condition; if you have not seen one yet, that is consistent with Pearl Abyss's "appears upon meeting certain conditions" wording.

These are existing systems, not patch-note guarantees about location. Treat them as scaffolding for your own search rather than confirmed steps.

Renaming, accessory slots, and other 1.04.00 / 1.05.00 pet quality-of-life

If you do tame either bird, the broader pet quality-of-life from 1.04.00 is already live and applies:

  • horses and pets can be renamed
  • pets have an accessory slot
  • Pearl Abyss added a secret shop in Pororin where pet equipment can be purchased
  • 1.05.00 adds Carry, Lower, and Pet interactions for the goose and duck pets specifically (Pearl Abyss does not extend this to the new birds in the patch note)

So once tamed, the legendary birds slot into the same pet UI and progression flow as the existing pets.

What we are not going to claim

We will not invent specific:

  • spawn locations
  • spawn times
  • weather, biome, or quest triggers
  • drop rates

…for the Iron Eagle or Hyacinth Macaw, because Pearl Abyss did not publish them in the 1.05.00 patch note. Anything you read elsewhere that lists exact coordinates and triggers should be treated as community-tested findings, not official confirmation, until Pearl Abyss says so.

FAQ

Are both birds locked behind specific conditions?

Pearl Abyss explicitly says the Iron Eagle "appears upon meeting certain conditions." For the Hyacinth Macaw, the patch note does not publish a specific condition phrase. Until clearer information is published, treat both as unlock-gated rather than free-roaming.

Do I need to finish the bird-pet quest from 1.04.00 first?

If you want to tame any bird in Crimson Desert, you need the Sotdae of Bond, which 1.04.00 says is "obtained through a quest." Without it, the trust loop with birds is not active.

Can I rename these new pets?

Yes. 1.04.00 already enabled renaming horses and pets. That applies to the new birds once tamed.

Is there a guaranteed spawn point in the patch note?

No. Pearl Abyss does not publish a guaranteed spawn point for either bird in the 1.05.00 patch note.

Conclusion

The Iron Eagle and Hyacinth Macaw are added in patch 1.05.00, but only one of them gets any official acquisition language at all, and even that language ("appears upon meeting certain conditions") is intentionally vague. The right move today is to make sure your bird-pet pipeline from 1.04.00 is complete and to wait for either Pearl Abyss or careful testing before chasing specific guides.
