Crimson Desert Patch 1.08.00 Explained: Tool Slot, Pond, Baby Wyvern, and Wyvern Mounts
Crimson Desert Patch 1.08.00 adds a dedicated tool slot, ponds for camps, Baby Wyvern pets, temporary wild Wyvern mounts, Kliff firearm updates, and more.
Patch 1.08.00 is a practical systems update for Crimson Desert. It does not only fix bugs. It changes how tools are equipped, gives camp players a pond system, adds new pets, makes wild Wyverns temporarily rideable, and gives Kliff access to muskets and shotguns.
If you mostly gather, fish, manage pets, or move across the map, this patch is worth checking immediately.

Patch availability
Pearl Abyss lists the 1.08.00 rollout as:
Steam (PC): available nowSteam (Mac): available nowPlayStation: available nowXbox: available nowEpic Games Store: available nowMac App Store: later / in progress
So most players can treat 1.08.00 as the live version now. Mac App Store players should still check whether the patch has reached their build before relying on the new systems.
The tool slot is the daily-use change
The new tool slot is the cleanest quality-of-life addition in this patch. Before 1.08.00, several tools shared space with secondary weapons, which made gathering and utility equipment feel more awkward than it needed to be.
Now supported tools can sit in their own slot. The official list includes:
- logging axe
- mallet
- shovel
- broom
- scythe
- pickaxe
- drill/chainsaw
- fan
The slot appears in the quickslot menu below the secondary weapon slot. That means your gathering setup should become easier to read at a glance, especially if you regularly swap between combat and resource collection.
There is one layout change to watch: mask and circlet quickslots have moved to the armor tab. If your quickslot layout feels different after the update, check the armor tab before assuming anything disappeared.
Quick Swap also changed around previously drawn equipment. In practice, this is a patch where every serious player should open the quickslot menu once, confirm tool placement, and rebuild muscle memory before heading into combat or gathering routes.

Ponds give fishing a new camp loop
The new pond system is the largest collection feature in 1.08.00. Ponds can now be added to:
Howling HillPailune Camp
You build them by completing the pond construction mission at those locations. Once built, fish can be released into the pond directly from inventory or through pond management mode.
The important part is that ponds are not just cosmetic storage. If you register multiple fish of the same species, the number of that species can gradually increase. The rate depends on the species, so not every fish will behave the same way.
Capacity matters. If the pond goes over capacity, fish can die. That makes pond management a real collector task rather than a simple dump box. If you plan to use ponds seriously, start with species you can replace, observe how fast they increase, and avoid packing everything into one pond just because the menu allows it.
Legendary fish get special handling. Pearl Abyss says legendary fish remain regardless of capacity or lifespan, but only one legendary fish can be registered. Legendary fish also can no longer be sold, used, or discarded. If you previously lost one through those actions, the patch restores it to inventory.
That last part is worth checking even if you do not plan to build a pond immediately. Open your inventory after updating and look for restored legendary fish.
Baby Wyvern is a future mount signal
Patch 1.08.00 adds 20 small animal species as pets and adds Baby Wyvern as a pet. The Baby Wyvern is the item with the biggest long-term signal because Pearl Abyss says it may grow and become registerable as a mount in a future update.
Do not read that as a live mount system today. In 1.08.00, Baby Wyvern is a pet. The mount part is future-facing. Still, if you care about mount collecting, this is exactly the kind of pet you should prioritize and keep safe because it may become more valuable once the follow-up update lands.
For broader pet accessory context, read How Pet Accessories, Sigil of Bonding, and Birds Work in Crimson Desert.
Wild Wyverns can now be temporary mounts
The live traversal change is separate from Baby Wyvern. Wild Wyverns can now be temporarily used as mounts after being subdued.
That matters because it gives players a new short-term movement option in areas where wild Wyverns appear. The patch note does not turn wild Wyverns into permanent registered mounts, and it does not publish a full taming table. Treat them as temporary field traversal after a successful subdue, not as a stable replacement for your regular mount roster.
Even with that limit, this could change how you route through some areas. If you are exploring, gathering, or returning to older content, it is worth testing whether a subdued wild Wyvern gives you faster local movement than your normal path.
For permanent and special mount planning, use the Crimson Desert mounts database.
Character and combat additions
Kliff gets a clear equipment expansion: he can now use muskets and shotguns. That is useful for players who like swapping between close-range pressure and ranged utility without leaving Kliff behind.
Damiane and Oongka get a skill equivalent to Focused Aerial Roll, which should help them feel closer to Kliff's aerial control profile. This follows the broader character support added in recent patches, including Crimson Desert Patch 1.07.00 and Crimson Desert Patch 1.06.00.
The patch also adds a function to silence tied-up outlaws. That is a small interaction change, but it fits Crimson Desert's bounty and outlaw systems well because it reduces noise and friction after capture.
Finally, new blueprints allow superior branches to be crafted using special tree branches and level 10 branches. If you use branch weapons or have been hoarding refined branches, check your blueprint and crafting options after the update.
Other notable improvements
1.08.00 also includes several smaller changes that are easy to miss:
- equipment can be instantly refined with the selected method without choosing materials again
Mass Craft PaintingsandCraft Fine Paintingsmissions were added- logging and quarry missions can reward timber and stones
- tree branches from logging are changed into stackable rough tree branches
Infinite ArrowsAbyss gear now works for bullets and cannonballs- cats can be taken in while carried
- Re-blockade can now happen at bandit camps and ruins
- fish traps were improved so they can catch fish
- map markers can be separated between land and Abyss locations
- Skills search can filter by weapon
- photo mode, keyboard shortcuts, Blackstar controls, and controller input guides were improved
The Re-blockade expansion is especially important if you have been using the system since Patch 1.05.00. Bandit camps and ruins are now part of the loop, so old routes may become active again. For the full system overview, read Crimson Desert Re-blockade System Live Explained.
