Crimson Desert Patch 1.06.00 Explained: Extraction, Special Mounts, Sheaths, and Night Tone Mode
Crimson Desert Patch 1.06.00 adds the Extraction system, Special Mounts, Display Sheath, Night Tone Mode, Oongka unarmed skills, Sigil of Valor, and more.
Patch 1.06.00 is one of Crimson Desert's most important post-launch system patches. It adds Extraction for refinement materials, introduces Special Mounts, gives players sheath display control, adds Night Tone Mode, improves unarmed combat support, and adds a combat utility item for pet dogs.
If you refine equipment or collect mounts, this patch changes how you should think about risk and long-term progression.
Quick answer
Crimson Desert patch 1.06.00 adds or changes:

- mount quickslot rules changed to one regular mount and one special mount

Night Tone Mode
Patch availability
Pearl Abyss lists the 1.06.00 rollout as:
Steam (PC): available nowSteam (Mac): available nowPlayStation: available nowXbox: available nowEpic Games Store: available nowMac App Store: available now
This makes 1.06.00 a full-platform update, not a staggered rollout for Mac App Store players.
Special Mounts turn animals into collection goals
The new Special Mounts system lets certain animals become registerable special mounts after gaining trust. The available categories are:
- bears
- boars
- wolves
- deer
- mountain goats
- Kuku Birds
- iguanas
- raptors
- camels
- lions
- tigers
This does not mean every animal in those categories is automatically tameable. Ferocious animals can be tamed by subduing and feeding them, while some species require unique methods. Untamable animals do not gain trust from feeding, so do not waste food if the trust loop is not responding.
You can also feed your mount while riding by selecting food in inventory and choosing Feed. That is a small but useful convenience because it reduces menu friction during travel.
Patch 1.06.00 also adds a Special Mounts tab to the inventory UI. Mount quickslots changed too: only one normal mount and one special mount can be assigned. If your mount quickslots look different after the patch, this is why.
For tracking owned and missing mounts, use the Crimson Desert mounts database.
Saddles are no longer just default visuals
Saddles no longer appear as part of a special mount's default appearance. They can be equipped through the Special Mounts tab, and saddles can be purchased at saddleries in different cities.
The official patch note lists several saddlery examples:
Hernand Saddlery: wolves and bearsEquinsher Saddlery: deer and wolvesCalphade Saddlery: bears and Kuku BirdsDemeniss Saddlery: Kuku Birds and deerPailune Saddlery: bears and ibexesDelesyia Saddlery: warthogsTommaso Saddlery: iguanasVarnia Saddlery: camels
The practical read is simple: after taming or registering a special mount, visit the appropriate regional saddlery instead of assuming the mount's look is fixed.
Extraction changes refinement risk
The Extraction system is the other headline feature. It lets you recover materials used to refine equipment by interacting with smithies in various regions.
Extraction can be performed for one refinement level or all the way back to the equipment's base refinement level. The equipment is not destroyed. Its refinement level is reduced, and some materials used in the removed levels are returned.
The official example is an item acquired at base refinement level 4 and raised to refinement level 10. If extracted back to 4, the item returns to level 4 and the materials used for levels above that are recovered.
Recovery depends on material type:
- special materials such as Artifacts and Aeserion's scale recover at
100% - common materials such as iron ore, copper ore, and bloodstones recover at about
70%
This is a major safety valve. It does not make refinement free, and it does not remove planning from equipment upgrades. But it does make over-investing into the wrong piece less punishing, especially when rare special materials are involved.
If you refine weapons often, pair this update with the Crimson Desert weapons database before committing materials.
Oongka skills, sheaths, and pet combat utility
Oongka gets new unarmed combat skills in 1.06.00. You find them by selecting Fists in the skill menu. Pearl Abyss also stated that Damiane unarmed skills would arrive in the next update, which happened in Patch 1.07.00.
The patch also adds sword sheaths and a Display Sheath option. This is mostly a presentation feature, but it matters for players who care about character appearance, screenshots, or keeping their outfit visually clean. It fits the same pattern as earlier weapon display improvements.
Sigil of Valor is the pet utility addition. When equipped, pet dogs attack enemies. The item can be purchased from the Secret Shop NPC in Pororin. If you already use pet accessories, read How Pet Accessories, Sigil of Bonding, and Birds Work in Crimson Desert for the broader pet-equipment context.
Night Tone Mode and other additions
Patch 1.06.00 also adds Night Tone Mode, a visual option aimed at night presentation. If you find nighttime visibility uncomfortable, check this setting before changing broader display settings.
Other additions and improvements include:
- a claw machine at the
Laughing Marionette - lighting items, a chair, special headgear, Abyss Artifacts, and Abyss Gears as claw machine rewards
- better unarmed stance and movement animations
Blinding Flashusable without a weapon equipped- additional effects and adjusted attack power for two-handed cannons
- inventory
Clean All,Butcher All, andObtain All Seedsfunctions - stackability improvements for furniture and ornaments
- fixes for pet summoning in certain situations
- fixes related to dispatch mission cancellation and contribution restoration
- boss rematch and combat-area fixes

Which animals can become Special Mounts?
The supported categories include bears, boars, wolves, deer, mountain goats, Kuku Birds, iguanas, raptors, camels, lions, and tigers. Some species still require unique methods, and untamable animals do not gain trust from feeding.

Sigil of Valor can be purchased from the Secret Shop NPC in Pororin.

Conclusion
Patch 1.06.00 gives Crimson Desert players more room to experiment. Extraction lowers the pain of refinement mistakes, Special Mounts turn more animals into collection goals, saddles and sheaths improve appearance control, and Sigil of Valor gives pet dogs a clearer combat role. Start at a smithy, then move to mounts and settings once your gear risk is understood.
