Crimson Desert Patch 1.01.01 Hotfix Explained: What the All-Platform Fix Actually Changed

Crimson Desert Patch 1.01.01 Hotfix Explained: What the All-Platform Fix Actually Changed

Patch 1.01.01 is a targeted all-platforms hotfix released March 29, 2026. Here is exactly what it fixed, what it did not touch, and how it relates to the 1.01.00 update.

Patch 1.01.01 is not a content update. Pearl Abyss released it on March 29, 2026 as a targeted all-platforms hotfix — its entire purpose is to resolve four specific bugs that were either introduced by or exposed during the Patch 1.01.00 rollout earlier that week. If you were waiting for one of those four issues to be fixed before diving into certain content, that wait is over. If you were hoping for broader fixes, those are still pending.

Understanding the scope of 1.01.01 matters because the official known-issues list still has several active items that this patch did not address. This article breaks down each of the four confirmed fixes, explains what remains outstanding, and clarifies how 1.01.01 fits into the patch sequence leading out of launch week.

Quick answer

Patch 1.01.01 fixed exactly four things:

  • Mount Talisman display bug — The "Use" option for the Talisman of the 5 new mounts was incorrectly showing as available for Damiane and Oongka. It now displays correctly.
  • White Bear sprint bug — Sprinting was unavailable while mounted on the White Bear. Sprint now functions as intended.
  • Tempering Target UI bug — A bug in the tempering target selection interface caused problems with the equipment progression workflow. This UI issue is resolved.
  • Horse follow bug — Horse movement became abnormal when holding the button to follow NPCs during mounted missions. This is now fixed.

What changed: a detailed breakdown of each fix

Mount Talisman display bug

The five mounts added in Patch 1.01.00 — White Bear, Cotubo, Snailbird, Flamingo, and Breezy — each have an associated Talisman. A Talisman is a mount-enhancing item that is specifically tied to the mount it belongs to. The bug caused the "Use" option for these Talismans to appear as available when playing as Damiane or Oongka, even though those characters cannot actually use them. Players who clicked "Use" expecting the Talisman to activate would have encountered an error or unexpected behavior.

The fix in 1.01.01 corrects the availability display logic. The "Use" option will no longer appear for Damiane and Oongka in the Talisman interface.

White Bear sprint bug

White Bear is the highest-profile of the five new mounts from 1.01.00, and it launched with a notable defect: the sprint function was completely unavailable while mounted on it. This made the mount far less useful than intended for open-world travel and time-sensitive content. The 1.01.01 fix restores sprint functionality to White Bear. You should now be able to sprint on this mount the same way you can on others.

Tempering Target UI bug

The tempering system — used to upgrade equipment to higher stages, including the new Stage 4 introduced in 1.01.00 via Refinement Tokens — had a bug in the target selection interface. The exact manifestation of the UI error was not described in detail in the official patch notice, but it affected the tempering workflow in a way Pearl Abyss deemed urgent enough to patch in a standalone hotfix. This interface bug is confirmed fixed in 1.01.01.

Horse follow bug

Mounted missions ask you to follow NPCs on horseback. A bug caused your horse's movement to become abnormal — erratic or unresponsive — when you held the button designated for the NPC follow action. This particularly affected the feel and reliability of mounted escort and follow-type quests. The fix in 1.01.01 restores normal horse behavior during these sequences.

What 1.01.01 did not change

Patch 1.01.01 is a surgical hotfix. A number of issues from the official known-issues list remain active after this patch:

  • Refinement menu UI automatically focuses on mouse cursor location (still active)
  • Damiane and Oongka cannot temper equipment (this is separate from the Talisman display fix above — they can now see the correct Talisman availability, but the underlying tempering limitation remains)
  • Constellation Helm controls become unavailable while using "Examine"
  • Character stuck to trees when receiving damage while holding them
  • NPC Trust values may reset to Prologue values
  • Blackstar remains flying after death instead of disappearing
  • A.T.A.G. does not destroy when Health reaches 0
  • Gregor boss fight: character cannot revive if surrounding objects are destroyed simultaneously
  • FSR4 rain rendering bug (PC)
  • Cloudcart not summoning in certain conditions

How this relates to Patch 1.01.00

Patch 1.01.00 was the first major post-launch content and bug-fix update. It included new mounts, the Refinement Token system for equipment Stage 4 tempering, the "Make Now" crafting function, DLSS and FSR rendering improvements, and dozens of bug fixes from the launch-week known-issues list. It was a large update and, like any large update, introduced a small number of new issues. Patch 1.01.01 is the direct follow-up that resolves the most critical of those.

The two patches together form the first wave of post-launch support. Pearl Abyss has not announced a timeline for Patch 1.01.02 or a larger follow-up patch, but the remaining items on the known-issues list are expected to be addressed in future updates.

When to expect it by platform

According to the official March 29, 2026 patch notice, Patch 1.01.01 was released as an all-platforms update simultaneously. This includes Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Epic Games Store, and Mac. Unlike some updates that roll out platform by platform, 1.01.01 was designed to go live across all supported platforms at the same time.

If you are unsure whether your platform received the update, the rollout status article explains how to verify your build number on each platform.

FAQ

Is Patch 1.01.01 mandatory? For online play and platform store access, yes — patch downloads are applied automatically or prompted by your platform on launch. You should receive 1.01.01 the next time you start the game if it has not already applied.

Did 1.01.01 change any gameplay balance? No. The official patch notice does not list any balance or gameplay tuning changes. All four changes are bug fixes.

Damiane and Oongka still can't temper equipment after 1.01.01 — was that supposed to be fixed? The Talisman display bug for Damiane and Oongka was fixed in 1.01.01. However, the underlying issue where Damiane and Oongka cannot temper equipment at all remains an active known issue. These are two separate problems with different causes. See the dedicated tempering bug article for current status.

The White Bear sprint still does not work for me after 1.01.01. What should I do? First, verify you have the 1.01.01 build installed (check via the title screen version display or your platform's update history). If you are on the correct build and sprint is still unavailable, restart the game and re-mount the White Bear. If the issue persists, report it through the in-game feedback tool.

Where do I find the official patch notes for 1.01.01? Pearl Abyss publishes patch notices on the official Crimson Desert website under News > Notices. The March 29, 2026 notice covers Patch 1.01.01.
