Crimson Desert Camp Upgrade Guide — Greymane Management
Complete guide to managing and upgrading your Greymane camp in Crimson Desert, including recruits, upgrade paths, and Contribution Point strategies.
The Greymane camp is your home base in Crimson Desert. Managing it effectively gives you access to better gear, passive income, crafting stations, and recruit bonuses that significantly impact your progression.
Camp Overview
Your Greymane camp starts as a small encampment near Hernand Castle. As you invest Contribution Points and complete camp-related quests, it grows into a fully functioning settlement with multiple facilities and recruitable NPCs.
Contribution Points
Contribution Points (CP) are the primary currency for camp upgrades. You earn them from:
- Region quests — Main and side quests award CP upon completion
- Boss defeats — Major bosses award large CP amounts (e.g., Reed Devil gives 600 CP)
- Bounty missions — Repeatable tavern board quests
- Exploration — Discovering new locations and activating Abyss Nexus points
- Daily camp tasks — Assigned by camp recruits
Bounty missions are repeatable and are the most consistent source of Contribution Points. Prioritize clearing the bounty board in every town you visit.
Camp Facilities
Forge (Weapon & Armor Upgrades)
The camp forge allows you to upgrade weapons and armor using gathered materials. Upgrading the forge itself unlocks higher enhancement tiers.
- Level 1 Forge — Upgrades to +3 (requires Iron Ore)
- Level 2 Forge — Upgrades to +6 (requires Iron Ore and Copper Ore)
- Level 3 Forge — Upgrades to +9 (requires rare materials)
Kitchen (Cooking Station)
Cook meals that provide combat buffs. Upgrading the kitchen unlocks more recipes and stronger buff effects.
- Level 1 Kitchen — Basic meals with minor stat buffs
- Level 2 Kitchen — Intermediate recipes with dual-stat buffs
- Level 3 Kitchen — Advanced recipes with powerful combat effects
Supply Depot (Storage & Vendor)
Your camp's Supply Chest and vendor are housed here. Upgrading expands storage capacity and improves vendor inventory.
Training Grounds (Recruit Upgrades)
Where your recruits train and improve. Higher-level training grounds unlock advanced recruit abilities and combat formations.
Recruits
Recruits are NPCs who join your Greymane camp and provide passive bonuses and active assistance. You can find recruits through:
- Story progression — Key NPCs join automatically
- Side quests — Completing certain quest chains unlocks recruit options
- Rescue missions — Finding NPCs in danger in the open world
- Tavern hiring — Some recruits can be hired for gold
Recruit Roles
Each recruit fills a specific role in your camp:
- Blacksmith — Improves forge efficiency and unlocks special upgrade options
- Cook — Unlocks new recipes and improves food buff duration
- Scout — Reveals hidden locations on the map and finds gathering nodes
- Guard — Defends the camp during raid events and reduces resource loss
- Merchant — Improves trade prices and unlocks rare item sales
Camp raids can occur randomly after reaching Camp Level 3. If you do not have enough Guards recruited, you will lose resources and potentially suffer facility damage. Keep at least 2 Guards recruited at all times.

Camp Management Tips

- Complete daily camp tasks — These are easy CP that accumulate fast over time
- Balance your recruit roster — Having at least one of each role covers all your needs
- Do not neglect Guards — Camp raids at Level 3+ can set your progress back significantly
- Invest CP wisely — Prioritize the upgrade that addresses your current bottleneck rather than upgrading evenly
Long-Term Strategy
The Greymane camp is a long-term investment. You will not reach maximum level until late in the game, so focus on the upgrades that benefit you most at each stage. Early game, the forge and kitchen provide the most immediate value. Mid game, recruit slots and the training grounds become more important. Late game, the trade network provides passive gold that funds your endgame gear.
Your camp is a reflection of your journey through Crimson Desert. Build it thoughtfully and it will support you through every challenge ahead.
