Best AMD and NVIDIA Driver Versions for Crimson Desert

The current Crimson Desert driver guide: avoid AMD 26.6.2 and 26.6.3, use 26.6.4 or newer, and check the official NVIDIA baseline and live graphics bugs.

The most important driver advice for Crimson Desert has changed. Pearl Abyss now warns that AMD Software versions 26.6.2 and 26.6.3 can make the game crash.

Quick answer

  • AMD: Do not use 26.6.2 or 26.6.3. Install 26.6.4 or later. If that is not available for your system, Pearl Abyss recommends 26.6.1 or earlier.
  • NVIDIA: Pearl Abyss' published general baseline remains 581.29 or later.
  • AMD minimum baseline: The older general recommendation of 25.9.2 or later still matters, but the two specifically affected releases above override the simple "newer is always better" rule.

If Crimson Desert started crashing immediately after an AMD driver update, check the exact version before changing game settings or reinstalling the game.

AMD 26.6.2 and 26.6.3 crash warning

The official Known Issues notice identifies both driver versions by name. Pearl Abyss recommends either side of the affected range:

  1. Prefer 26.6.4 or a newer release.
  2. If you cannot install that branch, roll back to 26.6.1 or an earlier compatible release.
  3. Restart Windows and test Crimson Desert before making unrelated graphics changes.

This is a targeted workaround for a known compatibility issue, not a general claim that older drivers always run better.

Official general driver baselines

Pearl Abyss' PC FAQ gives these minimum recommendations:

  • AMD 25.9.2 or later
  • NVIDIA 581.29 or later

Think of these as support baselines, not guaranteed best-performing versions. For AMD, the live Known Issues notice is more specific and therefore takes priority when your installed version is 26.6.2 or 26.6.3.

FSR 4 rain is still a known issue

The live official list says that enabling FSR 4 can cause rain effects to disappear or make the image look blurry or distorted in rainy conditions.

If the problem only appears in rain with FSR 4 enabled, test another upscaling mode or disable FSR 4 temporarily. Do not assume the GPU is failing just because the artifact survives a restart.

GTX 1060 white screen warning

Pearl Abyss also lists a specific issue for the GeForce GTX 1060: enabling FSR upscaling together with Frame Generation can produce a white screen.

The practical temporary step is to avoid that combination. Disable Frame Generation or switch away from FSR while testing. Updating the NVIDIA driver is still sensible, but it may not remove an issue that remains on the official live list.

A safe update checklist

  1. Record your current driver version.
  2. If it is AMD 26.6.2 or 26.6.3, move to 26.6.4+ or roll back to 26.6.1 or earlier.
  3. If you are below the general AMD or NVIDIA baseline, update to a supported release that does not fall in the affected AMD range.
  4. Restart the PC.
  5. Test the game with FSR 4 and Frame Generation disabled first.
  6. Re-enable features one at a time so you can identify the trigger.

FAQ

Is AMD 26.6.3 safe for Crimson Desert?

No. The official Known Issues page lists 26.6.3, together with 26.6.2, as causing crashes.

Which AMD driver should I install?

Use 26.6.4 or later where available. Pearl Abyss also names 26.6.1 or earlier as the rollback path.

What is the recommended NVIDIA driver?

Pearl Abyss' general FAQ baseline is 581.29 or later. The live Known Issues page separately warns GTX 1060 owners about combining FSR upscaling with Frame Generation.

Will updating the driver fix FSR 4 rain artifacts?

Not necessarily. Pearl Abyss still lists the rainy-scene problem as a known issue, so temporarily switching away from FSR 4 is the cleanest diagnostic step.
