How to Use Headgear Visibility in Crimson Desert

Patch 1.02.00 finally adds a proper headgear toggle to Crimson Desert. Here is where to find it, what each option does, and what it does not change.

If you only want the quick answer, the new Headgear Visibility setting is in Settings > Language & Gameplay. Pearl Abyss added it in patch 1.02.00, and it gives you four ways to decide when your equipped headgear should actually appear.

This is a cosmetic change, but it is a meaningful one. Crimson Desert has a lot of good armor, but it also has plenty of moments where players would rather see Kliff's face than a helmet rim cutting across every cutscene.

Quick answer

To use Headgear Visibility:

  1. open the main menu
  2. go to Settings
  3. open Language & Gameplay
  4. choose one of the four headgear display options

The available choices are:

  • Always Show
  • Show in Combat
  • Hide in Cutscenes
  • Always Hide

What each option actually does

Always Show is the default-minded choice. Your helmet stays visible in normal gameplay and story scenes.

Show in Combat is probably the best all-around pick for most players. You keep the battle look during actual fights, but cutscenes do not stay locked behind headgear the whole time.

Hide in Cutscenes is similar, but it specifically targets story presentation. If your main complaint was that dialogue scenes looked worse with helmets on, this is the one to test first.

Always Hide is the cleanest vanity option. It keeps the mechanical benefits of your equipped gear without forcing you to stare at it constantly.

What the setting does not change

This is where people tend to overread the patch note.

The new setting does not:

  • remove helmet stats
  • change any gear bonuses
  • unequip the item
  • hide the weapons shown on Kliff's back

That last part is important. Pearl Abyss says a separate back-weapon hide feature is planned, but it is not live in patch 1.02.00.

Which option is best?

If you care about cutscene presentation, use Hide in Cutscenes.

If you want the most natural blend between gameplay and character presentation, use Show in Combat.

If you mainly care about style and screenshots, use Always Hide.

There is no mechanical best choice here. It is all about what you want to see.

Why this small feature matters

One reason the feature landed well is that it signals something broader about Pearl Abyss' patch strategy. The studio is still fixing crashes and performance, but it is also making room for the smaller quality-of-life requests players keep repeating.

That is usually a good sign. It means the support cycle is not only reacting to emergencies anymore.

FAQ

Does Headgear Visibility affect stats?

No. It changes how gear appears, not how it functions.

Why can't I find the setting?

Make sure you are on patch 1.02.00 or later. Older menus do not include it.

Can I hide back weapons too?

Not yet. Pearl Abyss says that feature is planned for a future update.

What is the best option for most players?

Show in Combat is the safest recommendation if you want a balanced look.

Conclusion

Headgear Visibility is a small feature, but it fixes one of the most common cosmetic complaints in the cleanest possible way. More importantly, it is the kind of small daily improvement that makes a long game easier to stick with.
